Port Douglas is located just 1 hour north of Cairns along a spectacular coastal drive
through World Heritage Rainforest overlooking the brilliant blue of the Coral
Sea. Cairns is serviced by an International Airport and connections to Port
Douglas can be readily made by Coach and Hire Car.
Port Douglas lies at
the end of an isthmus a mere 4 miles in length. So everything is conveniently
located. One side of the peninsula is a continual sweep of undeveloped white
sandy beach known as "4 Mile Beach." The opposite side creates the
natural harbor where you will find Marina Mirage, a destination for
shopping, dining, sundowners, and all of your Great Barrier Reef
departures.
The region is warm, sunny and idyllic. The traditional
Bohemian Lifestyle is well complimented by the Cosmopolitan edge found in the
areas restaurants, accommodation and shops. There is something for everyone
from water based activities; fishing, diving, snorkeling, swimming, a stroll
along the beach, to the unlimited land options. Including rainforest trips,
world class golf, courses, the amazing Sunday Markets, and lots of
opportunities to interact with the native wildlife having Breakfast with the
Birds, feeding the kangaroos or cuddling a koala.
There are basically two seasons. From December to the end of
March the climate is warm and moist. This is the green season when the rains
come, carpeting the landscape with lush tropical growth. From April through to
November the days are sunny and warm and the nights are cool and pleasant. The
ocean temperature remains naturally warm all year.
The Rainforest The
Wet Tropics is a World Heritage listed National Park and runs from Cairns north
past Port Douglas up to Cooktown. The Rainforest is over 125 million years old,
dating before the dinosaurs, one of the planet's oldest continual rainforest.
Its hidden secrets contain an endless array of flora and fauna. Just 1 hour
inland can find you on a journey to the famous Australian Outback with lava
tubes, old mines, rugged savannah, huge ant-hills, cattle stations and quaint
villages. It is all here:
HABA departs daily from Port Douglas and provides comfortable coach transfers
for guests staying in Cairns or the Cairns Northern Beaches. The short drive
from Cairns is along a scenic and undeveloped coastal highway nestled between
sea and rainforest.
